'COME CLEAN ABOUT SUPPORT FOR ANWAR'

KUALA LUMPUR: Pas secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali must come clean about his support for opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Kedah Anti-Fraud Task force president Khairul Anwar Ramli said Mustafa has a duty to explain the matter to Pas members.

"Pas members want to know if Mustafa's support for Anwar is voluntary or if he is being threatened by Anwarinas (Anwar's supporters) within Pas."
"As a Pas leader, Mustafa should not allow himself to be blackmailed or pressured into saying anything he does not want to.

"This is a matter of pride, for the party and also the religion."Mustafa had recently voiced his support for Anwar following fresh allegations of sexual misconduct against the opposition leader. Anwar had been labelled a "bisexual".

SAMY VELLU ONLY HAS HIMSELF TO BLAME

The illustrious personality of Malaysian Indian politics, Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, has had his fair share of hogging the limelight, and just when many seemed to wonder what had happened to him, he returned with a blast yesterday.
In an interview with the New Sunday Times, he openly blamed his fall from grace on former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Blaming Dr Mahathir for his loss in the Sungai Siput seat in the 2008 general election, Samy Vellu said the former premier went so far as to tell Umno members not to vote for him.
Although he might have his reasons, Samy Vellu should also ponder what took Dr Mahathir so long to exact his so-called revenge on him.
After all, Samy Vellu said the reason Dr Mahathir did so was because the latter was unhappy that he did not allow the Indian Progressive Front to come into the Barisan Nasional fold.

PTPTN: OPPOSITION PLAN ‘IRRESPONSIBLE

Scrapping the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) is the product of a conceited political game, as it will rob poor parents of their dream of seeing their children pursue higher education, a minister, academics and non-govermental organisation leaders said yesterday.
They said the clincher was the number of students who received financial support to pursue tertiary education, which rose from 27,000 annually to 230,000 after PTPTN came into existence in 1999.
The Pakatan Rakyat plan to abolish PTPTN, at best, will benefit just one generation. One of them said it was totally financially irresponsible to use Petronas money for a single purpose — to foot the education bill.

KD: Still not agree with that plan..
